U.S. Judge Lynn Adelman of Milwaukee; One of the Good Guys

The state of Wisconsin provided Lynn Adelman with a law license in 1965 after he graduated from Columbia University School of Law,

In a display of courage and fortitude, Judge Adelman put forth a 35-page essay about the U.S. Supreme Court entitled "The Roberts Court's Assault on Democracy."

In his essay, Judge Adelman said in part:

  • “Roberts' confirmation pledge to be an umpire merely calling balls and strikes was a masterpiece of disingenuousness."
  • "We desperately need public officials who will work to revitalize our democratic republic.”
  • “Unfortunately, the conservative Justices on the Roberts Court are not among them."

Judge Adelman’s critique of the Roberts court is right on point. Most decisions are 5 to 4 with right wing conservatives making up the slim majority.

Sadly, the Roberts Court is not in the business of “dispensing justice.” It is in the business of “dispensing with justice.”

Kudos to Judge Adelman for having the courage to tell it like it is.

As we speak (ca. March 2020), Judge Adelman continues to sit as a U.S. District Court Judge in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
