Attorney Courtney Kelbel of Milwaukee; ethical goblin

The state of Wisconsin presented Courtney Kathleen Kelbel with a law license in 2009 after she graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Law.

The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found Courtney guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Ordered to pay $4,625 to the Wisconsin Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection
  • Engaged in 11 counts of misconduct spanning 5 client matters
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Willfully failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Courtney!)

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Courtney by gifting her with a complimentary 6-month suspension of her law license effective October 22, 2019.

As we speak (ca. February 2020), Courtney will resume her practice with the Kelbel Law Offices LLC at 731 North Jackson Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in late April 2020.
