Attorney Michael Avery of Fairfax, VA; ethical goblin

The District of Columbia provided Michael L. Avery with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from the Washington College of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Mikey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide competent representation (idiot)
  • Failed to consult with the client as to the means by which client objectives were to be pursued
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Failed to promptly notify client of receipt of funds owing to client
  • Failed to act promptly during client representation
  • Failed to promptly advise client of offer of settlement
  • Failed to explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the DC Court of Appeals punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. December 2019), Mikey practices at 10525 Braddock Road in Fairfax, Virginia.
