Justice Terrence O’Donnell Chief Justice Thomas Moyer’s No. 1 lackey, bootlicker

There can be no doubt that Ohio Justice Terrence O’Donnell has been Chief Justice Thomas Moyer’s chief lap-dog, flunky, lackey and bootlicker over the years.

It’s pretty clear that Chief Justice Thomas Moyer recognized early on that Justice Terrence O’Donnell met the qualifications to become his number one lackey, bootlicker, flunky, yes-man, major-domo, gofer, toady, lickspittle and apple-polisher.

In 1980, Justice Terrence O’Donnell was appointed by Gov. Jim Rhodes’ (4-dead in Kent) as a common pleas judge in Cleveland. This appointment came about due to Chief Justice Thomas Moyer’s direct intervention on behalf of his anointed lackey Justice Terrence O’Donnell. Chief Justice Thomas Moyer was able to direct Gov. Rhodes to appoint Justice Terrence O’Donnell because he was Gov. Rhodes’ executive assistant (aka, executive bootlicker) for several years.

Prior to Chief Justice Thomas Moyer’s directive to Gov. Rhodes to appoint Justice Terrence O’Donnell to a judgeship, Terry was mired in a bunch of do-nothing, low-paying jobs in Cleveland. His average earnings from 1971 to 1979 (after he obtained his law license) was somewhere around $20,000 or less per  year. In fact his prior work history was:
  • Justice Terrence O'Donnell: 1971 – Elementary school teacher
  • Justice Terrence O'Donnell: 1972-1974 – law clerk
  • Justice Terrence O'Donnell: 1975-1976 – Director paralegal education program – David Meyers College
  • Justice Terrence O'Donnell: 1977-1979 – Flunky and gopher with a law firm in Cleveland
Once Chief Justice Moyer caused Justice Terrence O’Donnell to be appointed to a judgeship, his annual earnings more than doubled to $43,500 a year.

In the early 2000s, Chief Justice Moyer again acted as Justice Terrence O’Donnell’s primary benefactor when he directed the Ohio Republican Party to allow Terry to run for a seat on the Ohio Supreme Court. However, despite Chief Justice Thomas Moyer’s unethical public support for Justice Terrence O’Donnell, he was soundly thrashed at the polls by Justice Alice Robie Resnick. One can just imagine the crocodile tears that Chief Justice Thomas Moyer and Justice Terrence O’Donnell shed over this humiliation.

Ohio law required Justice Terrence O’Donnell to relinquish his judgeship in Cleveland when he unsuccessfully ran for the Supreme Court in 2000. And of course Justice Terrence O’Donnell well knew that if he lost the election his $109,250 annual salary was history. Moreover, Justice Terrence O’Donnell fully appreciated that if he lost he would not only be unemployed, but was in effect unemployable in the legal arena in Cleveland due to the fact that he was a well-recognized intellectual lightweight.

Recognizing that Justice Terrence O’Donnell might lose the 2000 election and further that he would be unemployed if he did, Chief Justice Thomas Moyer promised him a job as a visiting retired judge. Within days of his defeat in November 2000, Chief Justice immediately appointed Justice Terrence O’Donnell as a visiting retired judge in Cleveland.

Subsequently, Chief Justice Moyer ordered Gov. Bob Taft to appoint Justice Terrence O’Donnell to the court of appeals in Cleveland. Then in May 2003, Chief Justice Thomas Moyer issued yet another order to Gov. Bob Taft to appoint Justice Terrence O’Donnell to a seat on the Ohio Supreme Court.

It’s pretty apparent is it not that Justice Terrence O’Donnell is indebted forever to Chief Justice Thomas Moyer for his livelihood. Every judgeship that Justice Terrence O’Donnell obtained was via gubernatorial appointments that were master-minded by Chief Justice Thomas Moyer.

Is there any wonder that Justice Terrence O’Donnell has remained a loyal and subservient lap-dog for Chief Justice Thomas Moyer? Put simply, Chief Justice Thomas Moyer has acted as Justice Terrence O’Donnell’s Sugar Daddy for nearly thirty (30) years. I suppose Chief Justice Thomas Moyer would have every right to lawfully declare Justice Terrence O’Donnell as a dependent on his annual tax returns, right?
