The Law Society of Singapore presented Joseph Chen Kok Siang with a law license in 2003 after he graduated from the National University of Singapore School of Law.

The Singapore Disciplinary Tribunal found Joey guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Billed client $35,000 despite agreement fee would be $8,000
• Failed to inform client of any change in circumstances to justify raising fee by $27,000 over agreed to price of $8,000
• Failed to provide client with fee agreement specifically spelling out fees that would be charged
• Failed to use simple and unambiguous language in communicating with client

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Three Judges of the Republic of Singapore punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and assessed costs of $5,000.00.
