Judge Elena Anzhukayeva of Russia; suspected thief

In one matter, The Investigative Committee of Moscow has charged Elena with committing theft of at least 1.8 million rubles of budget funds. She was successful in committing the thefts by organizing a purchase under a state contract of residential premises for the needs of the court at an inflated price.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee stated:

  • “The Investigative Committee of Russia initiated a criminal case against Elena Anzhukayeva, a judge of the arbitration court of the Republic of Kalmykia.”
  • “She is suspected of committing a crime ... "fraud committed by a group of individuals in a preliminary conspiracy, with the use of official position, on a large scale."

All that remains now is to see how long it takes before Judge Anzhukayeva cops a plea in order to reduce the amount of time she’ll have to spend in prison.

As we speak (ca. July 2019), Elena continues to sit as Mosco City Court judge in Moscow, Russia.
