Attorney Laura Scott of Salt Lake City; cheating loser

The State of Utah presented Laura S. Scott with a law license in 21993 after she graduated from Arizona State University School of Law.

The Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme Court found Laura guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to communicate with clients
• Charged and/or collected an unreasonable fee (cheater)
• Failed to safeguard client funds
• Failed to decline/terminate representation when required to so act
• Failure to communicate with client resulted in default being entered against the client in a divorce matter
• Misconduct involved multiple offenses
• Refused to acknowledge the wrongful nature of the misconduct involved
• The victim of misconduct was vulnerable
• Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Laura!)
• Failed to refund advance fee at the time his representation was terminated
• Failed to deposit client funds provided to pay expert witness fees in client trust account
• Did not obtain client’s express authorization prior to using the funds in the client’s financial accounts to pay his legal fees
• Failed to provide client with any invoices or otherwise inform the client of the payments prior to effectuating payment from the client’s financial accounts

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Utah Supreme Court punished Laura by gifting her with a complimentary 18-month suspension of her law license.

As we speak (ca. October 2019) Laura practices with the Third Judicial District Court at 450 South State in Salt Lake City, Utah.
