U.S. Judge Dolly Gee of Los Angeles; one of the Good Gals

The State of California presented Dolly Maizie Gee with a law license in 1984 after she graduated from the University of California Law Angeles (UCLA) School of Law.

In one matter, Judge Gee was assigned to preside over a case wherein a group of lawyers sued the Trump Administration regarding physician access to the efficacy of Border Patrol detention facilities.

The Trump Administration’s Immigration officials apparently refused to provide access to allow doctors and public health officials into detention facilities housing migrant children to address safety and sanitation concerns.

In late June 2019, Judge Gee issued an order to the government to allow migrant children facilities to be inspected by public health professionals and staffed by medical professionals. The order involves all of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s facilities in Texas’ El Paso and Rio Grande Valley sectors, which are the subjects of a lawsuit reacting to reports of unsanitary conditions at the detention centers.

In her order, Judge Gee said she has dealt with previous Flores settlement violations by the Trump administration. She went on to say that the “emergent” nature of the lawyers’ reports “demands immediate action.”

Kudos to Judge Gee for displaying the courage and fortitude to stand up to Donald “Trumporleone” Trump’s egregious conduct in the treatment of children who have become wards of the government through no fault of their own.
