Judge George Levin of New Britain, CT; potty mouth bully

 

The state of Connecticut presented George Levin with a law license in 1963 after he graduated from Columbia University School of Law.

 

The Judicial Review Council found George guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Berated and bullied a longtime appraiser
  • Repeatedly acted in a undignified manner
  • Bullying brought appraiser to tears
  • Engaged in biased conduct
  • Engaged in conduct intended to intimidate others
  • Displayed a total lack of judicial temperament
  • Repeatedly acted in discourteous manner
  • Yelled and screamed at participants at various hearings
  • Used profanity in once instance
  • Parties complaint that he stacks the deck against them in tax assessment appeals, costing their communities millions of dollars annually in tax revenue
  • Andover Assessor John Chaponis, who filed a complaint after George pushed him to grant a value reduction, said “What was happening was wrong, assessors were being stiff-armed into making settlements that they didn't want.”

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Review Council punished George by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

 

As we speak (ca. May 2019), George continues to sit as a tax court Judicial Trial Referee in New Britain, Connecticut.
