State Rep. Tony Tinderholt (R-TX): Today’s “Lunatic” Award Winner

In November 2014, Tony succeeded in duping the voters in the greater Fort Worth area into electing him as a member of the Texas House of Representatives.

In an ongoing effort to retain his status as one of Texas’ Premier Lunatics, Tony recently (ca. April 2019) introduced legislation that would criminalize abortion and threatened the death penalty to any woman who undergoes the procedure (Alanna Vagianos)

Tony titled his loony legislation as the “Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act” or House Bill 896. The legislation would outlaw all abortions “regardless of any contrary federal law, executive order, or court decision.” It would define abortion as murder which is punishable by death in the Lonestar state.

In support of his whacko legislation, Tony the Loon made the following comments.

  • “I think it’s important to remember that if a drunk driver kills a pregnant woman, they get charged twice.”
  • “If you murder a pregnant woman, you get charged twice.”
  • “So, I’m not specifically criminalizing women. What I’m doing is equalizing the law.”

The Moron’s legislation would prohibit abortion at every stage of a pregnancy, even in cases of rape and incest. It would allow for both the woman and the provider of the abortion to be charged with murder. In addition, the Lunatics legislation defines an embryo as “a living human child” beginning at “the moment of fertilization.”

As evidence that Tony’s legislation is facially absurd are the following indisputable facts.

  • Incest leading to pregnancy and conviction = 2 to 20 years in prison
  • Rape leading to pregnancy and conviction = 2 to 20 years in prison

So, Tony and his fellow comrades believe that the victim of incest who opts to have a pregnancy rather than carry Daddy’s child to term should be subjected to the death penalty while Daddy could serve as little as 2-years in prison. The same obscene outcome would occur in the case of rape.

Isn’t Texas great country?

And lastly, I’m in full agreement with my late father relevant said as to the issue of abortion, which is as follows.

“If I didn’t impregnate the woman, then its none of my damn business.”
