Judge L. T. Simes of Helena, AR; repeat offender, ethical gimp

Unfortunately the Arkansas Supreme Court provided L.T. Simes with a law license in 1972 after he graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School.

During his undistinguished tenure as a Phillips County Circuit Court Judge, Simes has been disciplined twice by the Arkansas Supreme Court. The misconduct of Judge L.T. Simes is as follows:

1st bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree – 2004

For his first bite at the Judicial Misfit Tree the Surpeme Court found Judge Simes guilty of abusing his judicial office.

Judge Simes found it acceptable to use his judicial office to produce a so-called inspiration musical CD. Simes claimed it was his attempt to inspire young people from backgrounds similar to his to transcend what may have been difficult beginnings in their own lives. The cover of the CD had Simes’ pictured in his judicial robe and holding a gavel.

To prove his inspirational claim was pure hyperbole (BS), Judge Simes was selling it to the folks who had difficult beginnings in their lives. What a joke!

As a result of this misconduct, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Arkansas Supreme Court punished Judge Simes by gifting him with an “Informal Adjustment.”

2nd bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree – 2011

In his second trip to the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree, Judge Simes was found guilty of abusing his discretion for his handling of a case seeking to reinstate a fired police chief.

Simes also had improper private communications (ex parte) with a lawyer in a pending case. He also threatened an attorney with sanctions for asking him to withdraw from a case.

The Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission recommended that the Supreme Court remove Judge Simes from the bench.

To forever cement their status as enablers for Judicial Misfits, the Arkansas Supreme Court rejected Simes’ removal and instead gifted with a complimentary reprimand.

This non-punishment of a serial Misfit only further proves that Judicial Misfits in Arkansas are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else.
