Judge Jay Gunter of Hawthorne, NV; moronic slacker

The state of Nevada presented Rena G. Hughes with a law license in 1988 after she graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Law.

The Nevada Judicial Conduct Commission found Jay guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to comply with the law
  • Failed to assure that incoming calls were timely answered or responded too
  • Failed to perform administrative duties competently (moron)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to properly discharge supervisory duties
  • Management failure led to $447,800 backlog in uncollected traffic fines
  • Failed to oversee the daily operations of the court
  • Failed to assure that court’s fax and phones were operational

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Nevada Supreme Court punished Jay by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. March 2019), Jay continues to sit as a Hawthorne Township Justice Court Justice of the Peace, County of Mineral, in Hawthorne, Nevada.
