Attorney Willis Toney of Kansas City, MO; scofflaw, ethical leprechaun

 
Attorney Willis Toney was one of several Kansas City area attorneys that loaned money to former Judge Deborah Neal to satisfy her gambling habit. However, it was later proven and/or alleged that the loans were intended to curry favor with Neal in regards to future rulings, etc. For a review of the misconduct of Judge Neal go to the URL listed at the end of this article.
 
Subsequently the Office of Disciplinary Counsel filed ethics charges against Toney for providing loans to Judge Neal.
 
In a lame attempt at levity, Toney had the chutzpah to say he didn’t know that ethics rules forbid judges from taking loans from attorneys appearing in their court. Ignorance of the law! This is common defense by attorneys caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
 
As punishment for his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Counsel punished Toney by gifting him with a complimentary
 
After finding Willis guilty of violating ethics rules by making loans to Judge Neal in whose court they practiced, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on Disciplinary Counsel punished Tony by gifting him with a complimentary letter of admonishment.
 
As we speak Toney is practicing his brand of law at 1100 Main Street in Kansas City.
