Judge John Laettner of Martinez, CA; ethical troll

The state of California provided John Laettner with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from the University of California Hastings School of Law.

Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was duped into appointing Johnny as a Contra Costa County Superior Court judge in 2004. Johnny didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater  area. He received it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

It should be noted that Johnny has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the twenty-nine (29) years. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Contra Costa County area was about to offer Johnny a good paying job.

• Engaged in illegal ex parte (one-sided) conversations with DA out of the presence of defense counsel
• Failed to uphold the independence of the judiciary
• Failed to perform judicial duties competently (moron)
• Engaged in what appeared to be retaliatory conduct against an attorney’s client as a result of the attorney filing a peremptory challenge to have him statutorily removed from the case
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to conduct himself faithfully to the law (scofflaw)
• Repeatedly acted in a bias manner when dealing with litigants
• Failed to afford everyone appearing before him the right to be heard (due process)
• Improperly discussed pending case with judge who had previously been disqualified from sitting on said case
• Engaged in unwelcome, undignified, discourteous, and offensive conduct that would reasonably be construed as sexual harassment or sexual discrimination in dealing with Deputy DA Krista Dalla-Piana
• Illegally revoked defendant’s OR release in defendant’s absence and without conducting a hearing on the matter (due process)
• Repeatedly asked Deputy DA Sarah MonPere personal questions, such as whether she had a boyfriend or intended to have children
• Refused to recuse (withdraw) from cases when required to so act

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Johnny by the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission.

As we speak (ca. December 2018), Johnny continues to sit as a Contra Costa Superior Court judge in Martinez, California.
