Attorney Manuel Cardenas of Chicago; convicted child batterer

The state of Illinois presented Manuel Antonio Cardenas with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from John Marshall School of Law.

The Disciplinary Commission found Manny guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Criminally charged with domestic battery
  • Found guilty of reckless conduct, class A misdemeanor
  • When 14-year-old daughter refused to go to movies with and asked that he take her to her mother’s house, Manny removed his leather belt and used it to hit his daughter three times across her thigh causing bruising and welts in the presence of her 13-year old brother
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on his honesty, trustworthiness or fitness as a lawyer

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Manny by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. February 2019) Manny practices with Manuel A. Cardenas & Associates, P.C. at 2059 North Western Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.
