U.S. Judge Frederick Martone: Arizona’s 2017 Double Dipping Porker of the Year Winner

The state of Arizona presented Frederick Martone with a law license in 1975 after he graduated from Harvard University School of Law.

In 2001 President George W. Bush was duped into appointing Freddy to a federal judgeship for the District Court of Arizona.  Freddy didn’t get this appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater Phoenix area. He got it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

It should be noted that Freddy has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past fifty-one years (ca. 1967 thru 2018). Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Los Angeles area was about to offer Bobby a good paying job.

In addition to his annual $208,000 federal salary, Freddy also collects an annual judicial pension from Arizona of approximately $134,000, thereby giving him a total annual income of $342,000.

It should be noted that in January 2013 Freddy opted to assume the position of senior status judge. This meant that he was only required to work 10 hours a week while collecting 100% of a full-time judge’s annual salary, which as of 2018 would be $208,000.

And lastly, if you’re a federal or even a local government employee, wouldn’t you love it if you could take on senior status in your job after 10 years and continue to collect 100% of your pay? Sorry boys and girls!

Even though you’ll never be able to collect this unconscionable financial benefit, you can take solace in the fact that you will be required to continue to pay taxes to support it.

As we speak (ca. July 2018), Freddy continues to sit as a retired Senior U.S. District Court Judge in Phoenix, Arizona.
