Judge Shan F. Embry of Hardinsburg, KY; ethical goblin

The state of Kentucky presented Shan F. Embry with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Law.

The Judicial Conduct Commission found Shan guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in illegal ex parte (one-sided) conservation with litigant’s attorney
  • Failed to respect and comply with the law
  • Failed to uphold the integrity and independence of the judiciary
  • Failed to behave with courtesy and respect to parties appearing before him
  • Failed to provide party right to be heard (due process)
  • Failed to dispose of matter, promptly, efficiently and fairly

Apparently, Shan is of the opinion that “due process” is the means by which the grass becomes moist in the a.m.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits and Aspiring Standup Comedians sitting on the Kentucky Supreme Court punished Shan by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. July 2018), Shan continues to sit as a District Court judge for the 46th Judicial District serving Breckenridge, Grayson and Meade Counties.
