Attorney Pieter Verbeek of Ontario, CAN; slacker, loser
The Law Society of Upper Canada presented Pieter Carel Verbeek with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from the University of Toronto Law School.
The Hearing Committee for the Law Society found Pieter guilty of the following misconduct.
-
Failed to serve his lender clients in a conscientious and diligent manner (slacker)
-
Failed to disclose, or misrepresented material facts
-
Failed to demand proof of the purchasers'/borrowers' equity
-
Failed to follow the express written instructions of his lender clients and ensure that the Transactions were completed in accordance with their conditions
-
Failed to make sufficient inquiries into the purpose and the irregularities of each Transaction
-
Prepared documents and reports for his lender clients that he knew or ought to have known were false or misleading
-
Failed to confirm the identity of the purchasers/borrowers by demanding identification, including photographic identification, and retaining a copy in his file
-
Failed to disclose all material facts to his lender clients
-
Failed to obtain his lender clients' consent
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Hearing Committee punished Manlio by gifting him with a complimentary3-mponth suspension of his law license and to pay costs to the Law Society of $7,500.
As we speak (ca. October 2018), Pieter practices in Ontario, Canada.
