Judge Michael Hinson of Hohenwald, TN; pompous scofflaw
The state of Tennessee presented Michael E. Hinson with a law license in 2009 after he graduated from the Nashville School of Law.
The Tennessee Board of Judicial Conduct found Judge Hinson guilty of the following misconduct.
-
Failed to comply with the law
-
Failed to act in a manner to promote public confidence in the integrity of the judiciary
-
Interfered with a traffic stop by the Highway Patrol regarding a driver being cited for seat-belt violation
-
Stopped at the scene of patrolmen citing driver for seat-belt violation and spoke to the occupants of the vehicle at the same time the citation was being issued by the patrolman
-
After the seat-belt citation was issued, Mikey dismissed the citation without requiring the defendant to appear in court
-
Arbitrarily dismissed a DUI citation w/o the knowledge or consent of the prosecutor and without taking proof of the facts concerning the DUI citation
-
Despite driver of DUI conviction being found to be legally drunk, Mikey said he dismissed the case because he wanted to do a favor for a veteran
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Conduct Board punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. July 2018), Mikey continues to sit as a Lewis County General Sessions Judge in Hohenwald, Tennessee.
