Judge Anton J. Steenkamp of South Africa; alleged liar, scofflaw

Judge Steenkamp is a member of the Labour Court that sits in Pretoria.

The Judicial Conduct Committee (JCC) is investigating (ca. June 2018) the following conduct of Anton regarding a wrongful discharge case. (Dineo Bendile)

• Engaged in misconduct in his handling of dispute between energy company Sasol and a former employee
• Engaged in illegal ex parte (one-sided) communications
• Former Sasol employee Andile Maseko accused Anton of ignoring written submissions in his labour dispute with Sasol, allegedly lying about not receiving the documents and reaching an unfair judgment in favor of the company
• Anton lied about not receiving documents from Mr. Maseko
• Entered into an unfair judgment in favor of Sasol

Anton admits that he engaged in illegal ex parte (one-sided) communications with lawyers for Sasol prior to dismissing Mr. Maseko’s wrongful discharge case.

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Conduct Committee mete out to Anton for the misconduct he is alleged to have engaged in, which includes lying.

As we speak (ca. November 2018), Anton continues to sit as a Labour Court judge in Pretoria, South Africa.
