Attorney William Cohn of Cordova, TN; greedy, serial offender

The state of Tennessee provided William Allan Cohn with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Law.

The Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility found Billy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in deceptive and clandestine conduct
  • For seven years collected post-confirmation attorney fees from his debtor clients using a creditors’ procedure which a Bankruptcy Court found improper
  • Filed creditors’ proofs of claims for fees rather than required detailed fee requests
  • Failed to obtain prior approval from bankruptcy trustee prior to filing fee claims
  • Routine legal work was not considered necessary by bankruptcy court
  • Subverted controlling principle inherent in all the workings of the bankruptcy court to the effect that a full review of all attorney fees sought must occur
  • Ordered to disgorge $13,997 in post-conviction fees from all 61 clients

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Billy’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received four (4) complimentary reprimands for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. July 2018) Billy practices at 291 Germantown Bend in Cordova, Tennessee.
