Criminal Appeals Justice Lawrence Meyers of Texas; scofflaw, moron

Unfortunately, Justice Meyers succeeded in duping the voters in Texas into electing him to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in 1992 where’s he’s been ever since.

Justice Meyers now wants to dupe the voters into electing him as the Presiding Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals in the November 2012 general election.

Recently an ethics complaint was filed against Justice Meyers with the Texas Ethics Commission. The complaint dealt with Meyers’ unlawful use of campaign funds to pay property taxes on a home he owned in Austin.

Texas law and ethics rules don’t allow for a political candidate such as Meyers to spend campaign contributions on items of personal benefit. Clearly, paying one’s personal property taxes is a personal expense, right?

Goshes and Gollies, I wonder what part of the term “personal benefit” Meyers had trouble comprehending.

If Justice Meyers is too ignorant to understand such a simple term, then he has no business sitting in judgment of anyone, right?

Hopefully the voters of Texas will wise up in November 2012 and tell Justice Meyers to take a hike.
