Attorney Charles Dorothy of Sioux Falls, SD; imbecilic cheater

The state of South Dakota provided Charles L. Dorothy with a law license in 1974 after he graduated from the University of South Dakota Law School.

The South Dakota State Bar found Charlie guilty of the following misconduct.

• Engaged in discovery and trial tactics that complicated and extended legal proceedings
• Failed to provide competent client representation (imbecile)
• Failed to advise client of relevant limitations on lawyer’s conduct
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to reasonably explain matters to client
• Charged client an unreasonable fee (cheater)
• Failed to adequately communicate with client
• Failed to decline or terminate representation when required to so act
• Displayed general lack of respect for judicial system
• Failed to display any remorse
• Displayed lack of candor before Supreme Court

As a consequence of his misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the South Dakota Supreme Court punished Charlie by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. June 2018) Charlie practices with the Dorothy & Krause Law Firm 600 East Tan Tara Circle in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
