The state of Arkansas presented Richard H. Young with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School.

 

The Committee on Professional found Dick guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Dick’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Found in contempt of court
  • Failed to appear at scheduled hearing on client’s behalf
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Presented check to court on closed account (rubber)
  • Violated or attempted to violate rules of conduct, knowingly assisted or induced another do so or did so through the acts of another
  • Failed to expedite client litigation
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Dick’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Disobeyed court orders to refund client fee (Screw you judge, said Dick!)
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Continuously missed hearings he was ordered to attend
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Knowingly made a false statement or material fact of law to a third person
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to provide competent representation (Dumbo)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary 5-month suspension of his law license.

 

Dick’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to properly supervise non-attorney spouse
  • Failed to take reasonable efforts to ensure that the wife's conduct was compatible with Dick’s professional obligations
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Wrote checks on insufficient funds account (rubber)
  • Failed to properly maintain his trust account

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and a $500 fine.

 

Dick’s 4th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Failed to advise client’s his license was about to be suspended
  • Accepted $3,000 fee from client’s several days before he knew his license would be suspended for several months
  • Failed to explain matter to extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license and a $2,000 fine.

 

Dick’s 5th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to effect service of client’s complaint on defendant
  • Gross negligence re: service of complaint led to client’s case being dismissed
  • Failed to provide client with written contingent fee agreement
  • Failed to explain matter to extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to provide competent representation (Moron)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary 24-month suspension of his law license and a $2,000 fine.

 

As we speak (August 2018), Dick practices at 606 West Main in Russellville, Arkansas.
