Judge Kelly Cross of San Antonio; ethical goblin

The state of Texas presented Daniel Burkeen with a law license in 1982 after she graduated from the University of Texas Law School.

The State Commission on Judicial Conduct found Kelly guilty of and/or charged him with engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Stated on record at a hearing compared a party’s daughter’s I.Q. to a “pen”
  • Referred to litigant whose wounds were infested with maggots as “Mr. Maggot” or “Maggot Man” during a guardianship proceeding
  • Repeatedly demeaned those appearing before her including litigants who were autistic

Kelly’s Hyperbolic (BS) Defenses

Kelly laughing claimed she was a victim of a conspiracy by her political opponents to get her [Donald Trump Syndrome]. Clearly, Kelly missed her calling as a standup comedian.

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Conduct Board punished Kelly by gifting her with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Kelly continues to sit as a Bexar County Probate Judge in San Antonio, Texas.
