Chief Justice Charles Canady of Florida; supporter of judicial bribery, lifetime porker

In 2002, then-Gov. Jeb Bush made a monumental error in judgment when he appointed Canady to the 2nd District Court of Appeals sitting in Lakeland. Bush’s error was further magnified when then-Gov. Charlie Crist appointed Canady to the Supreme Court in 2008.

From 1984 to 1990, Canady served three terms in the Florida House of Representatives, and from 1993 to 2001, he served four terms in the US House of Representatives.

In total, Justice Canady has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for about twenty-five (25) years.

While ruling on a recent case of judicial misconduct involving Judge N. James Turner, Justice Canady felt compelled to write on his twisted meaning of the 1st Amendment as to judicial candidates, which is as follows:

“(The judicial canon) completely chills a candidate’s speech regarding contributions while providing only marginal protection against actual or perceived judicial bias. I therefore conclude that (the canon) encroaches on the free speech rights of judicial candidates in violation of the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution.”

In truth, Canady is putting forth same laughable argument that corporations are people in regards to making unlimited/undisclosed contributions (aka, bribes). In essence, Canady is in support of Florida Judges soliciting unlimited contributions, most of which will come from those seeking favorable rulings.

We all know that most judges are political appointees who obtained their appointments by acting as compliant lackies and gophers for local political hacks, whether Republicans or Democrats. Clearly, this is exactly how Canady obtained his appointments from Gov. Bush and Crist.

Hopefully, the day will come when Floridians send this buffoon packing!
