Sen. Mitch McConnell: Today’s “Degenerate Liar” Award Winner

After getting his fellow Republican comrades in the senate to vote 51 to 49 in favor of the GOP’s so-called tax reform bill, Mitch decided to travel to Kentucky to spew forth a few lies in support of his giveaway to billionaires and millionaires.

Mitch then told his Kentucky constituents the following lie.

  • “I not only don’t think it will increase the deficit, I think it will be beyond revenue neutral.” he told reporters.
  • “In other words, I think it will produce more than enough to fill that gap.”

The gap Mitch is speaking about is estimated by the Congressional Budget Office and other economists to be between $1.4 and $2.1 trillion over the next ten years.

Mitch’s hyperbolic (BS) claims are exactly the same ones that former President Bush used to sell his huge tax cut for billionaires and millionaires in the early 2000s. As we know, those cuts didn’t do anything to spur growth in tax revenue for the U.S. Government. It did in fact lead to even larger deficits.

Only someone skilled in selling snake oil would claim that this tax giveaway for the rich and super rich is going to be paid for by higher tax revenues being collected by the IRS.

The one thing we can be certain of is that when the budget produces even larger than expected deficits, Mitch and his GOP comrades will then attempt to pass legislation at reducing the debt they created by reducing or eventually eliminating Medicaid, Medicare and other social programs aimed at helping the lower and middle class.

As my old friend down in Louisville would say to Mitch, “you a lying som-bitch Mitch.”
