Judge Keith Roberts of Winona, MS; ethical gremlin

The state of Keith Roberts presented John Loring Bischof with a law license in 1999 after he graduated from the University of Mississippi Law School.

The Judicial Commission found Keith guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Illegally award $3,500 to landlord in back-rent case
  • Improperly granted landlord default judgment when tenant failed to appear at court hearing even though it was known that the defendant was never informed of the hearing date
  • Failed to accept responsibility for acts of misconduct
  • Failed to acknowledge any wrongdoing
  • Defendant irreparably harmed when Keith awarded landlord $3,500 on back-rent claim when the landlord’s lawsuit specifically claimed he was owed $546
  • Due to Keith’s conduct in illegally awarding landlord $3,500 judgment, tenant lost her car, was unable to pay her bills and was forced to file bankruptcy

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Mississippi Supreme Court punished Keith by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and a $3,000 fine.

As we speak (ca. December 2017), Keith continues to sit as a Montgomery Count Justice Court judge in Winona, Mississippi.
