Attorney Mary Langford of Nashville; slacker

The state of Tennessee provided Mary Belle Langford with a law license in 1999 after she graduated from the Vanderbilt University Law School.

The Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility Mary guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to expedite client litigation
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to communicate with client
• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Failed to submit discovery responses to opposing counsel
• Failed to appear at court hearing on client’s behalf
• Failure to appear at court hearing led to dismissal of client’s case
• Negligence led to court imposing $3,250 sanction against client

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Mary by gifting her with a complimentary censure.
