Attorney Gerald Moothart of Ames, IA; serial pervert

The state of Iowa presented Gerald Anthony Lyman Moothart with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from the University of Iowa Law School.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Gerry guilty of the following misconduct.

• Sexually harassed at least five (5) different women
• Engaged in sexual relations with at least two clients
• Engaged in an egregious conflict of interest
• Charged with assault with intent to commit sexual abuse which was later dismissed but formed the basis for one of the ethics complaints against Gerry
• Victims of misconduct were vulnerable
• Engaged in sexual relations with 21-year-old college student charged with DUI
• Asked one female client to “flash him”
• Instructed a female client to pull down her shirt
• Asked female client to perform lap dances
• Taped a $20 bill to back of cabinet door and told client said she was free to take it if she danced naked on the conference room table in his law office
• Looked up a client’s skirt while commenting on her underwear
• Showed a client a sex toy on his computer and asked her if she knew what it was
• Engaged in a pattern of misconduct

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Gerry by gifting him with a complimentary 30-month suspension of his law license, which means he will be eligible to practice again in September 2017.

As we speak (ca. August 2017), Gerry’s practice will resume with him working with the Moothart & Clausen Law Office at 315 6^th Street in Ames, Iowa.
