Ohio Sen. Tim Grendell: Today’s “Joseph Goebbels Truth-Teller” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Ohio State Sen. Tim Grendell
Today’s Joseph Goebbels Truth-Teller” Award Winner

FYI: Joseph Goebbels was the quintessential truth-teller during his tenure as chief purveyor of propaganda for the Third Reich prior to and during World War II. In fact, Joey’s reputation for accuracy, due diligence and journalistic integrity was the template utilized by up and comers like Walter Cronkite. .

Over the past ten or more years, Timmy and/or his wife have been representing the same legislative districts that sit northeast of Cleveland.

Over the years, there’s been an ongoing debate in Ohio to control the amount of water businesses could legally withdraw from Lake Erie. As a conservative Republican and years-long lackey for business interests in Ohio, Timmy opposed any such regulations.

During a recent legislative session, Timmy said, “You might be surprised to know that 137 billion gallons flows in [into Lake Erie] every day. You might be surprised to know that only 86.3 billion gallons flow out. … Leaving us a net surplus of approximately 50 billion gallons a day.” (Cleveland Plain Dealer)

U.S. Geological Survey official Dick Bartz said that roughly 154 billion gallons of water flows daily into Lake Erie and that an equal amount flows out. This would seem to debunk Timmy’s claim that Lake Erie experiences a net surplus of about 50 billion gallons a day. Since Mr. Bartz is rumored to be a Democrat, should we really believe anything he says?

According to government records, Lake Erie water levels were at their highest in the 1970s and have dropped slightly since that time. I lived in Toledo from the 1970s through the early 2000s. Timmy’s claim of yearly surpluses of 50 billion gallons (1975-2010) means there’s an additional 64 trillion gallons that can be used by businesses.

Goshes and Gollies, compare that 64 trillion gallons against the capacities of Lake Tahoe (39 trillion) and Lake Mead (9.3 trillion).

Now if Timmy could only figure out a way to ship that extra 64 million gallons of Lake Erie water to Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico or Southern California, he’d go down as one of America’s greatest living legends, right?

Left-wing ideologues (aka, America haters) would have you believe that Timmy’s a damn liar. Just because Jimmy’s figures are proven to be demonstrably untrue, that doesn’t mean they are false, right?

And lastly, since Timmy is an attorney and his lips were moving when he made these claims, shouldn’t this have been a clue that he wasn’t being truthful?

Congrats Timmy; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as an accomplished bull-shitter and liar; you are far too humble.
