Today’s “Fleece-Flocker” Award Winner is the American Family Association
The American Family Association is the primary sponsor and advocate for Gov. Rick Perry’s upcoming “The Presence” prayer fest scheduled to be held on Aug 6 at the Reliant Center in Houston.
AFA was founded in 1977 by Rev. Donald Wildmon, who at the time was in charge of Flock-Fleecing at First Untied Methodist Church in Southaven, Mississippi. Originally, AFA laughingly called itself the National Federation for Decency but changed its name in 1988. Obviously, The Donald missed his calling as a standup comedian.
It cannot be disputed that Rev. Wildmon is one of the founding fathers of the Fleece-Flockers Association of America. Also, The Donald appears to be a charter member of the Family Values 4-H Club (Hypocrites, Heretics, Homophobes and Half-wits).
For the Rev. Wildmon to associate himself and/or his conduct with the term “decency” doesn’t pass the involuntary laugh test. Apparently The Wildman would have us believe that fleecing his followers by pocketing as much as $40 on one book doesn’t qualify as “Conduct Unbecoming.” If bilking your followers is construed as being “decent,” then were all in a heap of trouble.
The Fleece-Flocker has the chutzpah to bill his unfortunate followers $19.95 to purchase “Rediscovering God in America” written by Newt Gingrich, one of America’s most infamous Hypocrites and Womanizers when Amazon.com is selling it for $3.98. Just another fine example of Mr. Decency sticking it to his followers!
What’s next for The Donald? Will he offer to sell the late Jeffrey Dahmer’s book titled: “Rediscovering Organic Vegetables for the die-in-the-wool Carnivore” at a 500% markup?
What would the Flock-Fleecer say or do if he found out Al Gore was charging the following to his followers for books he authored?
I suspect the Fleece-Flocker would feign total outrage in asserting that Al Gore was a dirty, low-down thief. He’d also likely start up a boycott of Barnes & Noble, Amazon and Wal-Mart.
The most disturbing aspect of The Donald’s business model is that his followers can deduct the cost of the books as charitable donations and the Flock-Fleecer doesn’t have to pay any income or inventory taxes. Put simply, if you’re an atheist, Catholic, Mormon, Muslim, etc. you’re paying personal taxes to support The Wildman’s bigoted enterprises. Isn’t America a great country?
