Solicitor Jyoti Bharati of New South Wales; thieving Dumbo

The Law Society of New South Wales presented Jyoti Bharati with a law license in 1999.

The Legal Services Commissioner found Jyoti guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide competent representation (Dumbo)
  • Pursued matter with no prospect of success (frivolous conduct)
  • Engaged in unsatisfactory professional conduct
  • Failed to deposit certain trust money in general trust account
  • Negligence led to deficiency in trust account
  • Misappropriated (stole) trust monies (thief)
  • Failed to comply with maintaining trust account records
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Commenced and maintained proceedings in circumstances where the matter had previously been disposed of in a previous court action

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Legal Services Commission punished Jyoti by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. July 2017), Jyoti practices at Theodore Solomon & Partners at 370A Forest Road in Bexley, New South Wales, Australia.
