Attorney David Bownes of Laconia, NH; slacker

The state of New Hampshire provided David H. Bownes with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from the University of New Hampshire Law School.

The Professional Conduct Committee on Professional Standardfound Dave guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Allowed statute of limitations to toll re: client’s lawful claims
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Misconduct caused actual harm to client
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Failed to advise client of alternative actions that could be pursued
  • Violated or attempted to violate the Rules of Professional Conduct, knowingly assisted or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on The Professional Conduct Committee on Professional Standard punished Dave by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (March 2017), Dave practices at 20 Canal Street in Laconia, New Hampshire.
