Attorney Hudson Maddux of Signal Mountain, TN; Dumbo, repeater

 

The state of Tennessee provided Hudson Owen Maddux with a law license in 1974 after he graduated from the University of Tennessee Law School.

 

The Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility Hudson guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Hudson’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

 

In one matter, Hudson began taking and converting to his own use partnership fees, income, and/or client payments made by at least seventeen separate partnership clients on approximately fifty different occasions over a three-year period in the total sum exceeding $92,000.00. 

 

Hudson took the partnership fees, income, and/or client payments without the knowledge or consent of the other partners. 

 

Subsequently, the firm filed suit in the Chancery Court for Hamilton County to recover the firm monies.  By Judgment filed in the Chancery Court for Hamilton County, Tennessee, Hudson was found to have defrauded the partnership and wrongfully converted $92,534.57 in receivables from the partnership. 

 

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Hudson by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

 

Hudson’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Engaged in prohibited transactions
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Hudson!)
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonest or misrepresentation
  • Violated or attempted to violate Rules of Conduct or knowingly assisted or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another
  • Charged and/or collected an excessive fee
  • Engaged in illegal practice of law in Florida
  • Failed to provide competent representation (Dumbo)  
  • Neglected client matter for several years
  • Misled (lied) to client by advising her that the case could not proceed because the insurance
  • company was changing representatives
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds

Hudson’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to safeguard client property and/or funds
  • Untruthful in statements to others
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonest or misrepresentation
  • Violated or attempted to violate Rules of Conduct or knowingly assisted or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Hudson by gifting him with a complimentary 9-month suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. January 2017) Hudson practices at 676 Miller Road in Signal Mountain, Tennessee.
