Attorney Theodore Silva of Renton, WA; slacker

The state of Washington presented Theodore Douglas Silva with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from the University of Washington Law School.

The Washington State Bar found Teddy guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to protect clients’ interests upon withdrawal
• Failed to pay court-ordered sanctions for nearly four years
• Filed improperly drafted motion causing court to dismiss client’s lawsuit with prejudice (meaning the client forever precluded from filing same claim again)
• Failed to advise client court had dismissed her case
• Sanctioned $815 by court for refiling a lawsuit already dismissed with prejudice
• Failed to attend court hearing on behalf of clients
• Allowed statute of limitations to expire on client personal injury claim
• Failed to take steps to expedite client litigation

Because of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Teddy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
