Attorney Janie Evins of Hot Springs, AR; serial offender

 

The state of Arkansas presented Janie M. Evins with a law license in 1992 after she graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School.

 

The Committee on Professional found Janie guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Janie’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Failed to take reasonable steps to expedite client ligitation
  • Violated or attempted to violate rules of conduct, knowingly assisted or induced another do so or did so through the acts of another

As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Janie by gifting her with a complimentary caution.

 

Janie’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  • Knowingly failed to disclose material fact to a tribunal when disclosure was required to avoid assisting a client in perpetrating a fraud
  • Knowingly submitted evidence she knew to be false
  • Failed to timely respond to discovery requests
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Janie by gifting her with a second complimentary caution.

 

Janie’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Failed to deposit advance fees into trust account
  • Knowingly made a false statement of material fact in regards to a disciplinary matter (Up yours, said Janie!)
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation

As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Janie by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Janie’s 4th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Entered into a business transaction with a client
  • Failed to advise client to seek outside advice from another attorney
  • Failed to obtain written authorization from client to engage in conflict

As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Janie by gifting her with a complimentary 1-year suspension of her law license.

 

As we speak (July 2017), Janie practices 432 Ouachita Avenue in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
