Attorney Carolyn Smale of Hood River, OR; ethical dwarf

The state of Oregon presented Carolyn Renee Smale with a law license in 2001.

The Oregon State Bar found Carolyn guilty of the following misconduct.

• Engaged in neglect
• Failed to fully and adequately communicate with clients
• Failed to respond to several communications from bankruptcy trustee
• Failed to respond to bankruptcy trustee motions
• Failed to advise clients of bankruptcy court orders
• Failed to advise client of upcoming bankruptcy hearing
• Failed to appear at bankruptcy hearing on client’s behalf
• Failure to appear at hearing led to bankruptcy court granting default judgment against client
• Failed to advise client default judgment rendered against client
• Misconduct involved multiple offenses

As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Carolyn by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.
