Attorney Jeffrey Stimpson of Munford, TN; ethical gremlin

The state of Tennessee presented Jeffrey L. Stimpson with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from the University of Memphis Law School.

The Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility found Jeff guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to file trial transcript as mandated with Court of Appeals
• Failed to file required statement of evidence with appellate court on behalf of client
• Withdrew as appellate counsel after deadline for filing trial transcript
• Failed to seek stay of trial court judgment on appeal
• Negligence in filing stay led to client’s property being executed on by adverse party

As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Jeff by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
