Attorney James Cupp of Michigan City, IN; ethical gremlin

The state of Indiana provided James Owen Cupp with a law license in 1981.

The Indiana Disciplinary Commission found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took at a time when he was appointed as a public defender.

  • Never communicated with client prior to probation revocation hearing
  • Never corresponded with client
  • Didn’t advise client he was appointed to be his attorney
  • Failed to advise client he obtained two continuances for probation hearing
  • Failed to explain matter to extent necessary to permit client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
  • Disclosed confidential information relating to client

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Indiana Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. August 2016), Jimmy practices with Steven C. Snyder and Associates at 531 Franklin Square in Michigan City, Indiana.
