Former Justice Mohammed Yunusa of Nigeria; serial criminal

The State of Michigan presented Gershwin Drain with a law license in 1972 after he graduated from the University of Michigan Law School.

The National Judicial Council of Nigeria (NJC) found Justice Yunusa guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Major recipient of bribes from attorney Rickey Tarfa
  • Engaged in gross misconduct
  • Granted injunctions aimed at stopping law enforcement agencies from carrying out their investigative duties, especially in cases relation to public corruption by major public figures
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Recipient of numerous kickbacks and bribes
  • Engaged in judicial malpractice
  • Engaged in acts that subverted the course of justice

As a consequence of his misconduct, the members of the National Judicial Council ordered that Justice Yunusa be permanently removed from the bench.

All that’s left now is to see how long it takes for Yunusa to cop a plea to accepting numerous bribes and how long his prison sentence will be.

As we speak (ca. July 2016), Yunusa will likely be relegated to working as a greeter at a local Gentleman’s Club in downtown Lagos.
