Solicitor Darryl Vas of Kent, UK; ethical leprechaun

The Law Society presented with Darryl Vas with a law license in 1995.

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found Darryl guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act in best interest of clients
  • Acted without integrity
  • Acted in way likely to diminish public trust in legal profession (What’s new?)
  • Failed to adequately advise a client regarding promissory note and loan
  • Failed to ensure client understood terms of promissory note
  • Represented clients with conflicting interests
  • Sent out letter that failed to include material information and was thereby misleading
  • Authored a scheme which provided a factual matrix for his misconduct
  • Caused considerable harm to the legal profession

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Solicitor Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Tribunal punished Darryl by gifting him with a complimentary £15,000 ($16,581) fine and ordered that he pay £48,000 ($53,059) in costs.

As we speak (ca. July 2016), Darryl practices with Macalister White LLP at 12 Cliff Street, Ramsgate, Kent, England.
