Attorney Stephen Banik of Wellsboro, PA; crook, congenital liar, drug abuser
Stephen Banik was unfortunately gifted with a license to practice law by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in 1981.
Attorney Banik has had at least two bites at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. His deplorable misconduct is set forth below.
1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree
In a disgusting example of greed and avarice Mr. Banik found it acceptable to engage in despicable conduct that was specifically aimed at defrauding a mentally incompetent person in regards to SSI (Supplemental Social Security) disability payments he received and/or was going to receive in the future.
Now ya gotta be one big time loser to try and take advantage of someone who is mentally incompetent, right? Even the infamous Mafia boss Carmine (“The Snake”) Persico wouldn’t have stooped to this level because he had a higher standard of conduct than Stephen “The Grim Reaper” Banik.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court found Banik guilty of the following misconduct in attempting to defraud Jan Terry out of his SSI benefits after submitting documents for his receipt of same.
Subsequently, Mr. Terry complained to Paul Henson, an SSI claims representative that Banik made it clear to him that he wasn’t going to pay him the $1,582.80 he illegally paid to himself. Mr. Henson later sent 2 letters to Banik demanding he explain why he had taken Terry’s money w/o his authorization. Banik never responded to these letters.
When Mr. Henson spoke to Banik about $1,582 on the phone, Banik made the following statements in a laughable attempt to justify his theft.
SSI records and those of Ms. Rusk proved that Banik never performed any services on Terry’s behalf to help him obtain SSI benefits. The only SSI document regarding Banik was a letter signed by his secretary imitating the process for Terry to get retroactive SSI benefits. Put simply, this certified crook and loser didn’t do a damn thing.
For this misconduct, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Banik by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree
On April 11, 2007, Banik pled guilty to three (3) criminal charges which are as follows:
For this misconduct, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Banik by gifting him with a complimentary six (6) month suspension.
As we speak (ca. Jan 2011), Stephen Banik practices law in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. What a joke! Only further proves that Attorney Misfits in Pennsylvania are held to lower standard of conduct than we are.
