Attorney Elliot Allen of Pontiac, MI; piggin out at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

 

In a monumental lapse of judgment, the Michigan Supreme Court saw fit to foist Elliot Allen on an unsuspecting public by gifting him with a law license in 1987.

1. Failed to take timely action for a client in a probate matter and to appear at hearings
2. Neglected to properly represent client in a state civil service grievance proceeding
3. Failed to notify client of changes in civil service grievance settlement

• Failed to answer the formal ethics complaint and to appear at multiple hearings
• In divorce action, failed to file proof of service on husband causing case to be dismissed
• Failed to take any action to have the divorce action reinstated
• Falsely told divorce client he would file motion to reinstate her case and refused to return unearned fees even though her case was dismissed because of his misconduct
• Re: 3 bankruptcy clients he failed to appear at first meeting of creditors, which resulted the matter being dismissed by final decree

1. Failed to deposit $3,200 client retainer in to a trust account
2. Deposited the client’s $3,200 retainer in his personal account
3. Failed to return $2,500 in unearned fees to the client
4. Refused to answer three (3) separate requests from ethics investigators

1. Failed to comply with conditions regarding prior suspension imposed by the Supreme Court
2. Also failed to make $600 in restitution to a client as previously ordered

1. After being paid $4,000 by client knowingly made a false statement to him and refused to release his file upon demand
2. After another client paid him $2,550, he failed to tell him of his changes (plural) in address and failed to return unearned fees
3. While employed in child support and guardianship matter for client’s father he neglected both matters and refused to refund $2,500 in unearned fees
4. Also refused to respond to ethics investigator’s requests for information
