Barrister Brendan McDonnell of New Zealand; slacker

The Law Society of New Zealand presented Brendan John Randall McDonnell with a law license in 1965 after he graduated from Victoria University of Wellington Law School.

The found New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal found Brendan guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in unsatisfactory conduct
  • Court entered personal judgment of $14,800 + $3,000 costs v. Brendan for filing of frivolous court action
  • Filed a lien without probable cause
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Breached his professional obligations

As a consequence of his misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Zealand Disciplinary Tribunal punished Brendan by gifting him with a complimentary censure and a $4,000 fine.

As we speak (ca. April 2016), Brendan practices with Petone Law in Lower Hutt, New Zealand.
