Judge Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia of Nigeria; Dumbo 

Judge Rita sits on the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court. 

In one matter, The National Judicial Council has sanctioned Rita by ruling that she will be permanently banned from any possible elevation to a higher court throughout her career on the bench. She will also not be considered for any ad-hoc judicial appointment for the balance of her time on the bench.

In addition, the Council warned Rita to not engage in any misconduct and placed her under its “watch-list” for four (4) years.

And lastly, if Judge Rita was sitting on the bench in Ohio or California, being a Certified Dumbo would not prevent her from ascending to a higher office, it would normally be a prerequisite.

As we speak (ca. March 2016), Rita continues to sit as a judge on the Federal High Court in Lagos, Nigeria.
