Judge Robin Free of West Baton Rouge; ethical elf

The state of Louisiana presented Robin Free with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from Southern University Law School.

The Judiciary Commission of Louisiana found Judge Free guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Judge Free found it acceptable to knowingly and intentionally violate the Code of Judicial Conduct when he accepted an “all-expenses paid trip on a private jet to a hunting ranch in Texas” from lawyers involved in cases pending before his court.

In a lame attempt at levity, Judge Free attempted to defend his illegal conduct by falsely claiming that he had merely accompanied a friend to advise him on the efficacy of purchasing a ranch. However, the commission members found Free’s testimony to be not worthy of belief and that in so testifying he “diminished his credibility in general.” It’s hard to imagine what “credibility” these folks are speaking about.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court punished free by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension from the bench.

As we speak (ca. November 2015), Judge Free continues to sit as a 18th Judicial District Court judge in West Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
