Attorney James Marty of Memphis; ethical leprechaun

The state of Tennessee provided James O. Marty with a law license in 1971 after he graduated from the University of Memphis Law School.

The Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Improperly signed name of Mississippi lawyer to several court filings in the Mississippi Supreme Court w/o the attorneys permission
  • Failure to comply with court rules led to client’s appeal being dismissed
  • Failed to pay client’s medical insurer after receiving settlement funds
  • Circumvent Disciplinary Rule though actions of another
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, dishonesty, deceit or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. December 2015) Jimmy practices at 260 Poplar in Memphis, Tennessee.
