US Judge James Selna of Santa Ana, CA; Dumbo

The state of California presented James V. Selna with a law license in 1970 after he graduated from Stanford University Law School.

Former president George W. Bush was duped into appointing Jimmy as a District Court Judge in 2003 even though he wasn’t the most qualified attorney in the greater Santa Ana area. In truth, Jimmy received his appointment because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

In one matter, Judge Selna was assigned to hear the case of Pacific Shores Properties v. City of Newport Beach.

The primary issue in the case was Newport Beach’s City's enactment of an ordinance which had the practical effect of prohibiting new group homes - i.e., homes in which recovering alcoholics and drug users live communally and mutually support each other's recovery - from opening in most residential zones.

Jimmy the Moron rule din favor of Newport Beach in dismissing all of the plaintiffs’ damage claims. Subsequently, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals summarily reversed Jimmy’s asinine ruling and reinstated the plaintiffs’ claims. In it’s reversal of Jimmy, the appellate court said in part:

  • Jimmy disregard evident that the City’s sole objective in enacting its ordinance was to discriminate against certain classes of persons
  • There is evidence that the City acted with discriminatory purpose
  • Evidence exists to show that the plaintiffs were harmed
  • Evidence sufficient to allow protected individuals to proceed to trial under a disparate treatment theory of the law

As a result of Jimmy’s asinine ruling, the taxpayers were forced to pay for the costs incurred by the appellate court and also for the costs of having the case sent back to Jimmy.

Of course Jimmy the Dumbo doesn’t care how many times his foolish decisions are reversed or how much it costs the taxpayers because he can’t be removed from the bench for being a Certified Dumbo.

As we speak, (ca. October 2015) Jimmy continues to sit as a District Court judge in Santa Ana, California.
