Attorney James Konat of Seattle; bigoted loser

The state of Washington presented James Jude Konat with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from Creighton University Law School.

As we speak (ca. September 2015), Jimmy practices at 516 Third Avenue in Seattle, Washington.

The Washington State Bar Association found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed as a King County Prosecutor in Seattle.

In one matter, Jimmy was the lead prosecutor in a murder trial of Kevin Monday Jr. During the jury trial and in his zeal to obtain a conviction, Jimmy made “racist” comments to the jury, which subsequently led to the Monday’s conviction being overturned by the Washington Supreme Court.

Some of Jimmy’s inappropriate comments to the jury are as follows:

  • “Black witnesses are unreliable”
  • “Black folk don’t testify against black folk”

During cross-examination of a witness that admitted she had lied to the police, Jimmy said:

  • “And would you agree or disagree with the notion that there is a code on the streets that you don't talk to the po-leese?"

In its ruling in disciplining Jimmy, the state Supreme Court stated in part:

“Thenotion that the state's representative in a criminal trial, the prosecutor, should seek to achieve a conviction by resorting to racist arguments is so fundamentally opposed to our founding principles, values and fabric of our justice system that it should not need to be explained.”

After the court’s reversal of Monday’s conviction and the ordering of a new trial, Monday pleaded guilty and received a 35-year prison sentence.

After the reversal, Jimmy the Bigot resigned his position as an Assistant King County District Attorney.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. September 2015), Jimmy practices in the Seattle, Washington area.
